NEW CEU Online Articles from UF/IFAS Extension

Looking for CEUs for your spray license?  Environmental Horticulture Production at UF/IFAS Extension in Hillsborough County has two new CEU articles available online for those seeking to renew your spray licenses with CEUs.  The first article is "An Integrated Approach for Controlling Ornamental Production Pests."  This article if you pass the quiz will give you one Core CEU for CH. 482 or 487 license.  The second article is "Controlling Viburnum Diseases in Florida During Nursery Production."  If you read the article and pass the online quiz you can get either one Private Applicator, an Ornamentals and Turf Pest Control, or an Ag Row Crop Pest Control CEU.

For either article, sign into Eventbrite to access the article (cost $10.00 + fees),  then read the article.  Next take the 10-question quiz that is linked at the bottom of the article and pass with a 70% and you will receive your CEUs via email.  An easy option for renewing your Florida FDACS spray license.

Agriculture Worker Protection Standard Online Virtual Class

 The Agricultural Worker Protection Standards (WPS) provides rules and regulations to protect agricultural workers from pesticide exposure from the workplace.  The implementation of these standards and enforcement is done by our local Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service employees.  If you are a employer at a farm, nursery, greenhouse, or forest you will need to give your employees specific WPS training.  You are allowed to administer the teaching if you either have a valid restricted use pesticide license or you have passed the WPS Train-the-Trainer training.  UF/IFAS Extension now offers this class virtually so you can take it whenever you like.  Here is the link to the class if you are interested.  WPS EPA-Approved Train the Trainer Course - Farm Labor Education (instructure.com) The cost is $35.00.  

Online Core and Private Applicator Exam Preparation Classes

If you need either Core or Private Applicator Exam Preparation Trainings before you sit for the exam, we now have them online and you can go at your own pace.  These are the classes you can take if you will be applying restricted use pesticides (RUPs). 

Both classes are designed to highlight exam prep material that you will probably encounter on the exam. 

These classes are also available if you need two CEUs for either the Core or Prvt. Appl. part of your pesticide license.

Courses are designed for people already working in the horticulture industry.

Lectures and assignments are in both English and Spanish, with support from bilingual instructors.

Courses on specific dates, typically for four weeks. A list of individual courses is below to find out the next date each course will be offered.

Classes are completely online, and include streaming videos, readings, and assignments. They are available any time of the day, and new modules are activated each week during the course. You can use a desktop computer, tablet, or smart phone.

Excellent Online Classes in Environmental Horticulture Production

The University of Florida IFAS Extension is offering five online courses for greenhouse growers this year, including a new course on Costing and Profitability. Last year they had 488 registrants take our courses from the US and overseas, with 80% completion rate. 22% of growers took the courses in Spanish, and 22% were international.
